Substantives ending in es and 1s, not increasing m the genitive; e.g. mensis, the month, piscis, the fish, auris (f) the ear. Iuvenis, the youth, lad, is an exception, and has invenum in the genitive plural,
Substantives which end in several consonants ns, rs, and monosyllables in s or r following a consonant; e.g.
- urbs, city urbis. The base is urb, therefore the genitive plural urbium.
Exceptions are pater, father, patrum; mater, mother, matrum; frater, brother, fratrum.
Nouns ending in o, or, os, er, and Nouns ending in er of unequal syllables.
